To save time, call for a specific interview time 559-665-5531 extension 7976 Description: Under the direction of the Supervising Counselor, performs as a primary counselor to a caseload of inmates and assists in the supervision of assigned activities involved in trauma informed/gender responsive treatment environment. Responsibilities: Ø Supervises a case load of inmate substance abusers, records activities and progress of clients in charts in a timely manner. Ø Meets regularly with the Psycho-Educational Program Instructor in low-intensity treatment in order to determine the progress and needs of participants assigned to their case load. Ø Participates in case management and staff meetings, creates treatment plans with clients. Ø Performs one‑to‑one counseling, supervises and/or participates in group encounters, supervises and/or participates in all official functions of the program including community group meetings, public speaking engagements, and other functions as assigned. Ø Supervises morning meeting, seminars, house meetings and discussion groups. Ø Performs floor coverage as deemed necessary by senior staff, conducts seminars for clients. Ø Works with SAP Parole Agents, Phoenix House counseling staff, and individual inmates to develop Community Linkages, Step-Down Services, Continuing Care Planning/Re-entry, outlining short- and long-term goals. Ø Responsible for maintaining complete and accurate documentation of an inmate's treatment and behavior, including assessments, Individualized Treatment Rehabilitation Plan (ITRP) updates, and progress notes. Responsible for entries, notations and evaluations in files of assigned caseload with immediate follow-up. Ø Ensures Continuing Care Reports and all other written reports for California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), and Phoenix Houses of California are completed accurately and in a timely fashion so as to assure contract compliance. Ø Maintains an environment based on safety, respect, and dignity. Ø Maintains established performance and conduct standards in accordance with Phoenix House and contractual expectations. Ø May perform other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School completion or equivalency is required. Must obtain F.A.C.T. certification or other certification recognized by the California Department of Alcohol and Drug Program within 18 months of employment. Experience: Experience in the delivery of substance abuse treatment counseling in a residential setting is preferred but not required. |
